Fall Conference offers a look at news sharing As newspapers work harder to produce quality content with limited resources, the Maine Press Association is exploring ways to pool those resources by creating a news sharing arrangement for its members.
2008 Fall Conference program The MPA’s Fall Conference will be held Oct. 10 and 11 at the Atlantic Oakes Resort in Bar Harbor. Conference registrations should be received by the MPA by Sept. 24. The Atlantic Oakes’ deadline for room reservations is Sept. 10. To make reservations, call 1-800-336-2463. Special room rates of $125 to $143 per night are not guaranteed after Sept. 10. Here is the schedule for the weekend:
Former Portland editor to be Hall of Fame speaker Lou Ureneck, chairman of Boston University's Department of Journalism and a former editor and vice president of The Portland Newspapers, will be the keynote speaker for the 11th annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony, on Oct. 10 at The Atlantic Oakes Resort in Bar Harbor.
MPA adds four members to Hall of Fame The Maine Press Association has selected four key figures in the state's newspaper industry to join its Hall of Fame.
Robert Long to be MPA's next executive director Robert Long, opinion page editor of The Times Record in Brunswick, has been selected to be the Maine Press Association’s next executive director.
Auction items needed to support scholarships The MPA is seeking donations for its annual scholarship benefit auction, to be held on Oct. 11 during the 2008 Fall Conference in Bar Harbor.
